The Taylor-Birks Foundation was founded by parents of people with an intellectual disability from the West Island in the late 1970s. Its mission is to improve quality of life for users of West Montreal Readaptation Centre and their families.
The foundation’s first major fundraising campaign in 2008 was the Building Hope campaign to build an adapted respite care facility on the grounds of WMRC’s Department of Child and Family Services in Beaconsfield.
Corporate, employee and partner contributions totalled over $1 million, and in June 2011, in the presence of major donors, employees, the Mayor of Beaconsfield and several media outlets, the ribbon was cut!
